Thumbs Up

  • cost for each app is free
  • keeps track of visitors’ and employees’ comings and goings on a dedicated iPad
  • in the event of an emergency, having an accurate headcount of visitors and employees who are in the plant is important
  • works off-line

Thumbs Down

  • complex to use – no instructions are provided
  • visitors would need to be trained in how to sign in and out
  • expensive ongoing monthly fees
  • need to have a dedicated iPad just for visitors and employees to sign in on (likely to be stolen)

Overall Rating

  • iPad  – ♥♥
  • Android –  not available
  • Overall – both “SwipedOn” and “Visitor Book” apps are overly complex and very expensive – they seem like technological “overkill”
