Users Guide For Lifting – Free

Description

“For more than a decade, the Crosby User’s Guide for Lifting has been one of the most requested printed reference guides for the lifting industry, with over a half million in circulation.

This new electronic version takes the information available on the printed version to a new level. The Crosby User’s Guide for Lifting-Free version contains all the great features of the printed version including: references to various B30 standards concerning inspection/rejection criteria for slings and hardware, rigging terminology, guidelines for developing a sound rigging plan, wire rope and chain capacity charts, sling loading information, working with center of gravity and product information on selected Crosby hardware..”1

The Crosby Lifting Guide is considered to be one of the best resources available when it comes to safe lifting using cranes, hoists and slings.  I’ve used the paper copy of this guide for years.  It covers: safe lifting practices, definitions, rigging plans, inspections, rigging hardware, shackles, hooks, links, rings, turnbuckles, eye-bolts, hooks, wire rope, chains, slings, and of course capacities.

If you use cranes, hoists and slings to lift, you should have all of your supervisors, maintenance personnel, and production floor employees familiar with the Crosby Lifting Guide.  Without it, how would you ever know how much a grade 8,  2-legged, 2-inch chain sling can safely lift at 60 degrees?

Thumbs Up

  • this basic version is free
  • no registration or sign in required
  • well organized – easy and logical to use without any instruction
  • clear and easy to read
  • interactive features that you can click on for sample forms and additional information
  • short and simple, yet authoritative and comprehensive
  • can be used off-line

Thumbs Down

  • this free app is almost identical to the hard-copy printed version that’s been around for years – we don’t see it as being much better then the already outstanding hard-copy version of the Crosby Lifting Guide
