Safety App Of Week

Below is this week’s “Safety App of the Week“.  Every Monday we publish an article that reviews and rates a new workplace safety app.  Our testing is done on Apple iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3s.  We rate each app from to ♥♥♥♥♥ (♥♥♥♥♥ is the best).  Prior app of the week articles are archived here.


Official Description  

mySCDF, the latest initiative from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF), is a mobile application providing members of public with these features:

1. Fire Safety Feedback module – Spot any fire safety violations or fire hazards? Submit your feedback to SCDF via the Fire Safety Feedback module!   With every feedback submission, you are able to:

· Capture up to 5 pictures

· Drop pin on a location on a map

· Choose either Fire Hazards of Fire Safety Violation category

· Write a brief description of the violation

2. Fire Extinguisher module – What should you do when a fire breaks out?  Do you know how to operate a fire extinguisher so as to help put out the fire?   Launch the pictorial guide developed by SCDF to find out more on how to operate a fire extinguisher.1

  • connect to their YouTube videos for additional life saving training

    • “e-services” section – no value unless you reside in Singapore
    • “life saving” section (with YouTube supplements) – ♥♥♥♥
    • “publications” section (the 96-page “emergency handbook” is one of the best, free, downloadable, safety publications we’ve ever seen)   ♥♥♥♥♥
  • Android – not currently available
  • Overall – who’d guess such a wonderful safety app would be available from Singapore!  We can’t wait to see more apps from SCDF!
