Safety App Of Week

March 24, 2014 No Comments

Below is this week’s “Safety App of the Week“.  Every Monday we publish an article that reviews and rates a new workplace safety app.  Our testing is done on Apple iPads and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3s.  We rate each app from to ♥♥♥♥♥ (♥♥♥♥♥ is the best).  Prior app of the week articles are archived here.

Official Description

“Perform safety inspections, pre-start checks and inspections faster and easier with the Safety Inspector app from Barracuda Software.  Get exclusive features only available in this app for conducting inspections from your tablet.  Apply OSHA standards when inspecting to prevent workers from being harmed at work.

Safety Inspector Features

– Inspection templates to suit your workplace
– Add photos to demonstrate compliance issues
– Share completed inspections with colleagues and clients faster than ever via email integration
– Sign off section for completed inspections
– Sort previous inspections status

Download from the public library up to 42 OSHA self-inspection questionnaires or even the ISO9001:2008 template.  Create your own templates or modify the existing ones.

The App can work without any server, but if your company has Plinius Inspections or Plinius Health & Safety Management installed you will be able to

– Upload/download all your work.
– Get scheduled inspections directly form your server
– Create checklists, inspections, daily pre-start checks and more.1

Thumbs Up

  • cost is free
  • no registration required
  • email completed reports as PDF files
  • others at your company will be able to use any checklist with their “cloud” capability

Thumbs Down

  • inadequate instructions
  • provide only 42 pre-made checklists (their main competition has over 20,000 pre-made checklists)
  • we could not figure out how to “add photos”,  “modify existing checklists”, or “create our own custom checklist”
  • we spend considerable time with this app and were not able to understand how to use it

Overall Rating

  • iPad / iPhone – ♥♥
  • Android  –
  • We greatly prefer the iAuditor app to this one
