Safety Awakening – “Repetition, Repetition, Repetition”

 “Repetition, Repetition, Repetition”

We all know that even the best safety training is not 100% effective.  Some employees may not have been paying attention during the training, while others will forget the information you covered in just a few days.  That’s why signs are so important – they remind employees of safety rules, hazards and safety procedures that they were trained in.   When it comes to safety, constant reminders are a good thing.

There are standards when it comes to instructional and warning signs.  Ideally, all your signs should follow these recommended formats.

Lots of work sites and plants I visit have “home-made” signs (see below).  While I admire the intention, all such home-made signs should be replaced by proper signs that follow international signage guidelines.  Safety Awakenings offers links to thousands of free safety signs you can download and print yourself.  So there is no longer any excuse for using home-made signs.
