Each year when this list was published I would check to see if my company were on the list.  […]

Do Employees Have A “Safe Mode”?

When your computer is broken, the computer repair person will push a button and put it in “The Safe Mode” before initiating repairs.  I’m not sure exactly what the “Safe Mode” does, but I assume it somehow protects the computer from further harm from the virus or spy-ware. Wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could put employees in “The […]

Do You Need Certificates of Insurance?

A contractor is anyone who comes onto your premises to perform work; and is not an employee, visitor, or volunteer.   Typical contractors include: plumbers, electricians, roofers, HVAC, landscapers, cafeteria workers, temp employees, lawn mowers, snow removal services, and custodial services. If a contractors’ employee working on your premises is hurt on-the-job, you could end up paying for […]

7 Worker Health & Safety Principles

I greatly admire Thea Dunmire’s blog.  The theme of her blog is to use “management systems for improving the environmental and occupational safety and health performance of organizations.”  Here’s a thought provoking article she recently posted entitled “Worker Health & Safety Principles“.   It reviews seven quality/risk management theories and applies them to safety.
